  We have had a bad experience with Western Cabinets.
  In March 2002 we had a house built and the builder contracted Western Cabinets to supply the built in cupboards throughout. Sometime after we moved, we noticed the edge strip on the drawers was lifting in the bathroom. We contacted the builder and the supervisor told us to use a hot iron to reheat the glue and press it back on. This worked but it started lifting again some time later.
  Later we noticed that the vinyl wrap on the face of all thirty seven cupboard doors and nine drawers throughout the house was failing. We contacted the builder but they said that we were three months past the six year warranty period expiry date and it was now a manufacturer’s warranty issue. Our thoughts were that one or two might fail but for the whole lot to fail there was something definitely wrong.
  We contacted Western Cabinets and their written response was “Western Cabinets is a company which manufactures new kitchen and Bathrooms, etc. only. Replacing or repairing Doors and Panels to a job that it out of warranty falls into the category of a kitchen/bathroom facelift or renovation, which is not part of Western Cabinets scope of works.” (sic)
  They were saying, because we were three months past the warranty end date they were not obligated to rectify. Our view was it just didn’t fail overnight and that the glue failure was a product of bad practise and started prior to the warranty expiring period.
  The reason I am writing this review now is because even though it has been many years since this matter was brought to the attention of Western Cabinets and the builder there is little or no chance of getting any help from this company, I am still so angry about the whole thing so I just thought I would let people know that the job might look good in the beginning but ensure that you check well before the warranty period is up and contact Western Cabinets immediately and do not be fobbed off like we were.
